Lance's Bar Tricks: A Legal Opinion

--Martin has more legal analysis of Lance's latest moves in the place where "the beer flows like wine. Where beautiful women instinctively flock like the salmon of Capistrano. I'm talking about a little place called Aspen.":

Seriously, WTH is LA thinking, that he can get away with anything? The encounter itself is significant, never mind what was actually said. That something was said at all, and in a face to face, is the issue. This is the type of "little" thing that can totally swing a case. Remember Will Geogheganmad dogging Greg Lemond during Floyd Landis's CAS case in 2007? The feds don't take this lightly, not at all.

If required to formally defend a tampering charge under 18 USC § 1512 (either sub (b) or sub (d) for harassment/intimidation) a common defense is that "the conduct consisted solely of lawful conduct". LA would have to show by a preponderance that his "sole intention was to encourage, induce, or cause the other person to testify truthfully." Good luck with that one! lolololz

--Congrats to Wick on his new position at Virginia shop Final Kick. He'll be out at the Cervelo event in Vail coming up so make sure to say hey if you're there!

--The Race Director of the Tour of the Battenkill has written an open letter to USA Cycling about Lance's continued involvement in the sport.

--Quick Step boss Lefevere is saying he can afford Boonen and Gilbert for 2012. That would be a pretty sick classics team with solid chances in the cobbled as well as Ardennes classics.

--Anyone notice how bad the Sidi commercials are? The last one I saw was the one where they cut up and cook a pair of Sidis. I tried to find it on Youtube and happened to find another really bad one.

--I'll leave you a clip about the NYPD hard at work...
