The Vuelta is Coming!

--The Vuelta is coming! This Saturday the Spanish grand tour will be starting in Benidorm. This year's route also goes up l'Angliru! This climb is one of the steepest in cycling. (Is it steeper than the Zoncolan??) It's so steep that Sammy Sanchez said he can see it from his house but he's never ridden it!

Here's Contador in 2008:

In the meantime, all my posts from when I saw the Vuelta in 2009 are still up.

--Also starting soon is the USA Pro Cycling Challenge (Tour of Colorado, Quizno's, it's had a lot of names)! The race starts on Monday and should be a ton of fun. I was planning on going out there but with Interbike next month I decided to stay home.

Jens has a great post up about returning to America to race.

--Looks like Davide Rebellin is back in action. He's racing for Miche, which seems to be the home for guys who've served a suspension.

As for the silver medal he had to give back, "In my heart I still feel that medal is mine." Sounds like the Lance Armstrong philosophy on doping. I did it because others were doing it so that makes it okay.

Oddly enough, he goes on to say he's only been tested three times since returning. You'd think a guy coming back from suspension might get a little more attention.

Also, he says he and his wife (and agent) got a divorce after she joined the
Italian cycling tax evasion club. (Initially it was Rebellin who was accused.)

--Lastly, Brian Holm is headed to Quick Step.
